Kapari Tavern in Fira Town

Our tavern opened in 2007

It is housed in an old  19th century building, and it has been decorated  with personal taste and a great respect for tradition.

Granma’s unique dishes encouraged us to love cooking and her delicious recipes have become the source of inspiration for our menu.
Kapari tavern is located on the main road of Fira, on the road leading to Firostefani.

In natural beauty

The aesthetically landscaped entrance of the restaurant is just a prelude to the classic dining area and has a profusion of greenery. Bright bougainvilleas and sunflowers and aromatic jasmine, oregano, sage and lavender create an impressive exterior bathed in natural beauty. The interior has a unique and original hand-crafted decoration by the proprietors, and they have succeeded in creating an elegant effect using reclaimed wood and other waste materials.

The Menu

The menu is in both Greek and English, and guests are offered advice on what to choose. The cuisine is Greek fusion, wherein traditional dishes are modified and adapted to suit contemporary plates in the most attractive way. The emphasis is on a harmonious blend of old traditions and new imagination. For instance, the pan-fried sesame seed coated feta with honey glaze served at Kapari is a variant of the traditional saganaki. Other equally delicious options include pan-fried Santorinian sun-dried tomatoes with tzatziki; char-grilled garlic oyster mushrooms; lamb kleftiko baked in a clay oven; shrimps with mastic; chicken with fennel from an ancient recipe or chicken with artichoke hearts and mustard. The deep-fried olives or the kapari salad (a rich and wholesome salad of fresh lettuce and zucchini, sundried tomatoes, sunflower seeds and croutons sprinkled with grated cheese and balsamic or honey dressing) are also in the list of specialties at Kapari Restaurant. The dessert list has a fine selection, too.

The bar

The bar is well stocked and guests can choose from a wide range of good wines and beer, as well as traditional Greek aperitifs like ouzo and raki. To round off an exceptional meal, there is the famous sweet wine, the Santorinian Vinsanto.

Like at home A somewhat hidden tavern that deserves to be discovered! It feels a bit like home, welcomed by the staff in a warm atmosphere. We ate very well and enjoyed our time with family

Place of the heart Our favorite place, we were there almost every night! Very close to "home", we were immediately struck by the entrance. And then it was a beautiful discovery. Characteristic, welcoming, you eat well, you drink and you have fun! I feel at home here! I really hope to return "Martin"!

If you love Calimari.. Small, quaint, open roof restaurant with bougainvillea flowers hanging from above. I ordered calamari. In the states you are given rings of calamari or small squids. Not here. The whole calamari/squid was grilled and seasoned to perfection. I didn't need the rice or vegetable salad that was on the plate. With the bill was a small glass of Rika with honey and cinnamon. I don't drink but it was a nice touch.
